Versailles

My idea for Versailles was largely based around the different flavors experienced when drinking Louis XIII cognac.

I translated these flavors into perfumery materials. Fruits, woods and spices were the main components with the French materials connecting the structure back to Versailles and the land.

The composition moves from a bright fruit and citrus opening into a large floral structure built around Jasmine, Rose and Orris. Honey, Saffron and Frankincense help diffuse and begin the transition into the deeper layer. Oud, Leather, Sandalwood, Vanilla and Labdanum create sweet depth, with Cambodian Oud having fruity facets that connect back to the first layer. The intention was for the composition to gradually move from the brightness of the land into the richness and strength associated with the cognac.

Top: Italian Bergamot, French Lavender, Ginger, Pear Ester, Italian Lemon, Honeysuckle, Passionfruit

Heart: Grasse Jasmine, Rose de Mai, Honeysuckle, French Orris, Tuscan Orris, Spanish Saffron, Persian Rose, Honey, Hojari Frankincense

Base: Mysore Sandalwood, Labdanum, Vanilla, Honey, Nutmeg, House Leather, Cambodian Oud, Omani Frankincense, House Musk
